Classes at Danza Viva
We offer classes to all age ranges and ability levels at Danza Viva, as part of joining our community of dancers, we offer a free trial class to assess your current level and understand your goals. We offer structured syllabus classes, open choreography classes, and hybrid classes at all levels.
adults
Our adult classes offer a range of learning mechanisms as we know that adults have many different aims when taking on a dance class. Whether adults wish to attend a structured syllabus class with the opportunity to take annual exams or attend open choreographic or technique classes on a more casual basis we strongly believe in training to the best of your ability and making beautiful art, regardless of your level, background or age. Our adult performance groups perform regularly around Perth and delight audiences in our school shows.
teenagers (13+)
Our teen classes are designed for those young people who have developed an interest in Flamenco but might not belong in either a class with little kids or a class with adults. The classes offer the same syllabus and choreographic opportunities and the same opportunity to engage with Spanish culture, language and history, but in a way that allows teens to connect with their peers. At Danza Viva we foster confidence and joy in self-expression and are passionate about body positivity. For ambitious teens with a high aptitude there is an opportunity to fast-track learning to catch up with those who started Flamenco as kids.
kids (5+)
Our kids’ classes provide the opportunity to learn in either a structured syllabus with annual examinations and qualifications, or as part of a more open chorographic experience-based learning. We’ve found that our kids benefit most from a mix of these two learning methods. Our classes provide kids with the opportunity to learn about dance, percussion, Spanish culture, language, and history in a fun and vibrant way. Our kids also have the opportunity to perform at various community events and school shows. Many of our young students have advanced through the syllabus, completing their qualifications and become professional dancers and some even teachers.
mums and bubs (0+)
Since giving birth to her daughter in 2023 Sofia has been keen to pursue a new venture – Mums and Bubs Flamenco! These classes will be open to mums – and dads! – and children aged between 1 and 5. Due to the attention span of little ones and the need for flexibility the classes will be shorter in length and only partially structured. We will focus on developing understanding of percussion and basic coordination with lots of games and laughter. These classes will be a great bonding experience for young families and will also lay the groundwork for further development in dance if the little ones or their parents want to transition to formal classes. Sign up now to be part of our first ever Mums and Bubs performance at our annual show in October.
private tuition
Sofia offers private lessons at the studio for those who want to supplement their learning with a uniquely targeted coaching session. She also offers choreographic services for dancers from other fields looking to develop professionally or create a tailored fusion piece. Additionally private tuition is available for those who simply feel they get more benefit from learning in this way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not to worry, if you’re new to Flamenco or just returning after some time away, you may be unsure what level or lesson type you want to do, just call and arrange to come in for your free trial lesson so we can assess you properly and provide advice.
Not at all, your 10 class card is valid for a full six months so if you need a break, travel for work, or just struggle to come every week you can use the card as you like, although we do recommend some regularity to lesson attendance to ensure you achieve your goals.
Of course, we have seats in the studio for you to stay and watch, or some books and magazines if you’d prefer to wait and save the drive back. We do ask however that you try to keep noise down so the students can concentrate, although a little ‘Ole’ from a parent every now and then never does any harm.
Absolutely, we’ve previously worked with and continue to work with other artists, performers, and performing arts students to provide bespoke services or collaborations. Get in touch to discuss your requirements and we can look at how we can meet them.
